Enough play, now time for some work!

After a few days of touristy activities, free time and tons of fun it was time to get to work on what we actually came here for, hearing screenings! Of course these screenings came after a nice family breakfast at the college dining hall. We headed to Berea Head Start where we would perform our first set of screenings, all of us anxious to get started but nervous at the same time. Although it doesn't sound as fun as trail riding at the horse park, touring Fort Boonesborough or traveling through Shenandoah National Park we all had a great time getting all dressed up, and playing and joking around with all of the little kiddos even in the short time it took to screen each one. We were faced with a few obstacles early in the day; however we quickly overcame these and instantly clicked as a team getting a routine down where we were able to get children through quickly.

Us girls in our classy clinic clothes for screenings.

Ang performing the tympanometry part of our screening like a pro.

Haley getting the kiddo all set up for pure tone audiometry with a smile of course.

Bre waving back at a student during pure tone audiometery looking all cute.

We ended our day at the head start after screening the 13 children that were participating in the screenings. After packing up we headed back to campus for our family lunch where we chatted about our day at the head start, what worked and didn't work for us and what we should do to be even better and more efficient at the Child Development Lab tomorrow! After lunch us girls parted ways with Ted, where we had some free time in which we decided to use exploring the little shops around the town. During this time we found a jewelry shop in which I didn't want to leave. The man made every piece of jewelry himself and even sized us and made our rings right in front of us, he was very talented!

The hand crafted rings we got made for us at the jewelry store!

After the girls made me make a decision on which ring to get we headed off for an official tour of the college where we learned some interesting background history and learned what each building we had been seeing every day actually was. We then met up with Ted where we would venture off "holler hunting" in the back roads of Kentucky. This adventure was unsuccessful in what we came for however, we found some beautiful views and farm land of the area.

Some of the country we stumbled across on our adventure!

More of the country we found!

After being disappointed with holler hunting we headed back for dinner at the college. We went back to our dorm after dinner and had some girl time. We finished our night with Ted treating us to some delicious ice cream at Dairy Queen! We are now practicing and preparing for tomorrow and are really looking forward to getting into Berea's Child Development Lab for more screenings!

Our DQ treat to end the day.

Check back tomorrow for more of our Kentucky adventure, there is never a dull moment with this crew that's for sure, just ask Ted.
